The Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) runs from October 15 through December 7. We know from experience that the agents who make the most out of this window are those who don’t wait until September but start preparing now. We sat down with Caroline Marinez, Kizen’s insurance expert, for three quick questions to discuss how the most successful agents are planning to make the most out of AEP season in 2026.

Question: For agents who haven’t started to think about AEP yet, what’s the first thing you’d tell them?
Caroline: I’d say that agents with the most successful AEP season are those that don’t wait until September but start their game plan in the Summer. I’m hosting a webinar with Traci O’Brien from Senior Insurance Consultants and representative from a carrier about this topic where we’ll break down what we’re hearing from the market and what exactly a game plan should look like. But my one key encouragement is: get your game plan ready early and don’t wait until September.
Question: What does that groundwork actually look like? Where should I start if I’m an insurance agent?
Caroline: The most successful agents follow a specific sequence of operations. There are two big things to get done before anything else: make sure you are contracted, get your AHIP certifications and your carrier certifications, and get it done early. In the webinar, I’ll walk through the pre-AEP sequence so agents can learn what to do and when.
Question: What role does technology play in AEP?
Caroline: This is something I'm really excited to dig into during the webinar, because the gap between agents who use the right technology stack and those who don't has never been wider. Having the right technology, or CRM if you will, in place means you're not relying on memory, spreadsheets, or even post-its to manage your book of business. You can track client outreach, pull templates for communications, policy updates, and make sure no renewal falls through the cracks. The agents who are most organized going into AEP season are almost always the ones with the right systems behind them.
Sign up and tune in to Kizen’s webinar on Thursday, July 16, 1PM EDT, hosted by Caroline Marinez to learn more about how to set yourself up for success ahead of AEP season. Caroline will be joined by Traci O’Brien, Regional Sales Director at Senior Insurance Consultants, and a representative from a carrier, to discuss how to get ready for AEP and best practice for how to build infrastructure that scales.
